CURRENT PRIORITY ISSUES:
Bill No. - A6578 & S08862 - Support legislation that would create a Shampoo Assistant Certificate. Under current NYS licensing rules, one must be fully licensed to perform any kind of service to a client in a salon or spa. This bill would allow cosmetology students who have completed a minimum of 500 hours of the required 1000 hours in an approved cosmetology course curriculum, in a duly licensed school, the opportunity to apply for such certificate.
